Even though it seems like no one’s talking about Deshaun Watson anymore in the wake of Aaron Rodgers’ desire to leave the Green Bay Packers, that doesn’t mean that his legal turmoil has changed a bit.

Watson is still in the eye of the hurricane, as there are still multiple ongoing investigations against him for allegedly sexually assaulting multiple therapists since he made it to the National Football League.

The Clemson product had expressed his desire to be traded away from the Houston Texans and some thought he’d never play another snap for them. Now, it seems like he may not even play another snap in the league.

Jason La Canfora Says Deshaun Watson Is Unlikely To Play In 2021

According to CBS Sports’ Jason La Canfora, Deshaun Watson could be forced to miss the 2021 campaign while the Houston Police Department and the NFL conclude their investigations and the cases settle:

“I don’t think you’re going to see Deshaun Watson in an NFL building for a long time, certainly not until there’s more clarity about (it). This is a legal situation,” La Canfora said. “This is a league situation. This is a civil situation. I don’t think Deshaun Watson has any short-term future playing football. Long term, I think, will depend on these various findings and how some of the cases are adjudicated.”

Watson was coming off an MVP-caliber season, at least in terms of individual production, so multiple teams expressed their interest in trading for him. Now, his future is up in the air and could be put into pay leave.

The dual-threat gunslinger is currently facing up to 22 different lawsuits, and the fact that the franchise drafted Stanford’s David Mills could mean that they’re thinking of an insurance policy in the event he’s not able – or willing – to play.
