Nick Sirianni, Super Bowl champion with the Philadelphia Eagles, still needs to resolve his contract with the franchise, and owner Jeffrey Lurie made something clear about it.

In recent months, Nick Sirianni became the second head coach in Philadelphia Eagles history to win a Super Bowl ring. Despite this, his future with the franchise is still unresolved, leading owner Jeffrey Lurie to share his thoughts on a potential contract extension in the near future in the NFL.

During the Annual League Meeting, Lurie took some time to speak with the media and, in a way, clarify the situation regarding the future of the current head coach, while emphasizing that historically in Philadelphia, negotiations with franchise members have not been made public.

“Yeah, superb job. I mean, Nick’s going to be our coach and we don’t talk publicly [about contracts], never have,” Lurie said.“You guys, I’m sure, will find out soon enough that Nick will be our coach going forward, and he’s done an outstanding job.”

While today is a time of glory in Philadelphia, there was a time when Sirianni’s work as head coach of the Eagles was seriously questioned, as the results were far from what was expected. Despite this, owner Lurie reaffirmed his confidence, and they ultimately achieved the main goal: winning a Super Bowl.

“When we were 2-2, we went 16-1 after that, and the one was when Jalen Hurts, we were winning the game, got a concussion,” Lurie said. “So it’s not easy to go 16-1 in the National Football League, four of which are against playoff teams, one of which was the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl. So, outstanding job.”

Lurie’s confidence in Sirianni

Sirianni has become one of the most respected figures within the Philadelphia franchise. Throughout his time there, he achieved a record of 48 wins and 20 losses, winning the most recent Super Bowl and finishing as a finalist in another edition.

That’s why Jeffrey Lurie took it upon himself to reaffirm his confidence in him, despite the fact that at times things didn’t go as expected. The Eagles owner made it clear that he’s not only happy with Sirianni’s professionalism, but also, and perhaps just as importantly, with him as a person.

“Everything that I had hoped for with Nick, he embodies,” Lurie said. “Whether it’s connection, intelligence in so many ways, from football intelligence, emotional intelligence, managing of people, hiring of assistant coaches, growth mindset at all times… These are all the things that we embody, appreciate and are a big contributor to the culture we have. So everything that I had hoped for early on, identifying Nick as the next head coach, has come to pass and great to work with, and he has a growth mindset, he’ll get better.”

Sirianni’s perspective on his contract extension

Although there is still nothing concrete regarding the negotiations between the franchise and the current Super Bowl champion HC, Nick Sirianni made sure to send a clear message on his contract extension with the Eagles.

“These things will take care of themselves. I’m not too concerned about it. I don’t really get into contracts with anybody. I’m not going to get into it on this one. It will take care of itself,” Sirianni said in an interview with Eliot Shorr-Parks of WIP.
