The Tampa Bay Buccaneers had a date with destiny on Februay 7, 2021, in Super Bowl LV against the Kansas City Chiefs. It was a Super Bowl marked by many subplots; the game was played in Raymond James Stadium to only one third of its capacity. It also marked the first time a team had home field advantage in the Super Bowl as the Buccaneers hosted the event. For the Kansas City Chiefs, it could have been a franchise first back-to-back Super Bowl victories. Then the most interesting of all subplots was the quarterback duel between Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes, a match of youth versus experience. Mahomes looked to become the youngest QB to ever win the Super Bowl in back-to-back seasons at 25. While Brady became the oldest QB to win a Super Bowl, his seventh, in ten appearances.

For the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, a team founded 1976, it was the opportunity of a lifetime to win in front of their home crowd. And they made it! It also marked the return to the big stage for a franchise that has returned to the playoffs for the first time since 2007.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have made the playoffs a total of 11 times and have won two NFC championships and 6 divisional titles. They have won two Super Bowl trophies in their history: in 2002 and in 2021. We will take a look back at the Bucs' Super Bowl titles.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers win Super Bowl XXXVII

The only Super Bowl the Tampa Bay Buccaneers ever won was in Super Bowl XXXVII in 2002. The game was played in Qualcomm Stadium, San Diego, California on January 26th, 2003. The Bucs played against the Oakland Raiders and the final score was 48-21.

The game was tight until the second quarter where the Buccaneers scored 17 points to take a huge advantage and never surrendered the lead afterward. Safety Dexter Jackson was the MVP of the game for recording two critical interceptions.

On that day the Super Bowl was watched by 88 million viewers, the national anthem was sung by the Dixie Chicks, and the halftime show was a trio of major stars, Shania Twain, No Doubt, and Sting.
