Liam Coen arrived at the Jacksonville Jaguars with a fresh outlook, eager to prove that despite his youth, he has everything needed to establish himself in the NFL. He’ll have the privilege of coaching none other than the extraordinary talent of Trevor Lawrence, highlighting his key qualities ahead of a new season in the league.

In a recent appearance on ‘Pardon My Take’, the former offensive coordinator of the Buccaneers revealed his first impressions of meeting Lawrence, with a particular emphasis on the QB’s mindset when approaching the game.

“So when I got with him, you know, a couple weeks ago, it’s just, you felt a dude that just wants to go take it to the next level. He’s mentally and physically tough. He’s been able to go through a lot of stuff, and he’s been through a ton of change. And all he wants to do is be great. Like, he really does,” Coen stated.

He also highlighted, among other attributes, the humility with which the former Clemson player carries out his role, as well as his hunger to improve day by day in the discipline.

“He just wants to go be coached, go pour into this thing. And I think he’s primed to go do that. Yeah, he’s going through a ton of like, ton of change right now. Obviously, had the injuries, a new father, new coaching staff for the third time now, right? Ton of humility. But like, he’s got a feeling where he’s like, ‘Man, I need to kind of play to my potential. I haven’t reached it yet,’ and that’s cool to see,” Coen also added.

Changes continue on the Jaguars

With the goal of improving last season’s poor campaign, the Jaguars are aiming for a major restructuring not only in their roster but also at the executive level. The arrival of a new GM, as well as the new head coach, reflects a strong intention to improve their present in the NFL.

In recent days, news broke that some veteran players within the franchise will no longer wear the Jaguars uniform in the upcoming season. Perhaps the most notable is TE Evan Engram, who was informed of his release in the last few hours.

He was joined by another key weapon for Trevor Lawrence. Experienced WR Chris Kirk will also leave Jacksonville and has already arranged his move to the Houston Texans.

Lawrence’s reaction to the departure of his teammates

Roster changes can be received in different ways by the players involved. In this case, it was none other than Trevor Lawrence who broke his silence following Evan Engram’s departure ahead of the 2025 NFL season.

“One of the best I’ve been around,” Lawrence said wrote on social media. “Going to miss you bro. I appreciate everything you’ve done for me and I have so much respect for how you handle your business. A true pro!! Keep being you.”

The same goes for Kirk: “Man it was a privilege to share the field with you! You’re a great person, friend, and player. Your best days are ahead! I’ll always be in your corner (except maybe twice a year). Love you brother.”
