If there’s one historic NFL franchise eager to return to the spotlight, it’s the Green Bay Packers. To help make that happen, the team has surrounded Jordan Love with strong support this offseason — and many are already anticipating a potential run back to the Super Bowl.
One of them is Matthew Golden, recently drafted by the Packers with the 23rd overall pick in the first round. The former Texas Longhorns standout arrives in Wisconsin aiming to become one of quarterback’s primary aerial weapons.
In a recent conversation with the media, the explosive wide receiver made it clear that his top priority is to make an immediate impact starting in Week 1 — and to help turn the dream of lifting the Vince Lombardi Trophy into a reality.
“Definitely want to go get that Lambeau Trophy, man,” Golden told KPRC 2’s Aaron Wilson. “That’s the question mark we got in our team room is just filling in that blank. That’s the last thing we need in that team room and, for us, that’s all we talk about at practice is getting that trophy.

Matthew Golden #22 of the Green Bay Packers participates in drills during the Green Bay Packers mandatory minicamp at Ray Nitschke Field on June 10, 2025 in Ashwaubenon, Wisconsin.
“So, we’re doing everything we can each and every day to get to that point and just letting the rest be built up by itself.”

Golden’s confidence ahead of what’s coming
Golden’s arrival in Green Bay is no coincidence. Matt LaFleur’s team was in urgent need of a reliable partner on the field for Jordan Love — someone he can lean on week after week to help break through opposing defenses.
The former Longhorn made a name for himself in college thanks to his physicality, as well as his route-running explosiveness and skill. He’s made it clear that he intends to bring that same level of performance to the NFL moving forward.
“Just my versatility, what I can do, I can play anywhere on the field,” Golden said. “Just doing what the team needs me to do. That’s what I did at Texas and that’s what I’m going to continue to do. Just being in the position to play for the Green Bay Packers man, it means so much to me.”
