According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, the decision was a close one. Pittsburgh reportedly had strong interest in Sanders but pivoted late to bolster the defensive line.
Unfortunately for Sanders, Pittsburgh’s odds of picking him in the second round are slim. The team does not currently hold a second-round pick, complicating any plans to acquire the quarterback unless they trade up.
