Mike Tomlin is taking the Pittsburgh Steelers to have a magical 2020/21 NFL season, beingthe only undefeated team in the league after 8 weeks, trying to extend that good moment against a diminished Dallas Cowboys team.
However, Tomlin knows that won’t come easy as the Cowboys still have some pieces to be competitive. They lost Dak Prescott after he sustained a compound right ankle fracture and dislocation in Week 5.
Andy Dalton is also out due to a concussion in Week 7 and the Cowboys look weaker than ever now. Nevertheless, they still have their star running back Ezekiel Elliot to try to make some damage against rival teams. Zeke won’t give the Cowboys the SuperBowl but he’s dangerous enough to carry his team and win a couple of games.
Mike Tomlin says the Steelers are focused on stopping Elliott
The Steelers head coach is aware that they face a big challenge in Elliott. He’s not a pro-bowler now but he is a player that can do a lot of damage with his carries. Although the Steelers are one of the best teams against the rushing game, they know their main focus must be on Elliot.
“I know Ezekiel Elliott has a lot of our attention and preparation and rightfully so. . . . Common sense tells you he’ll be a central figure in your game plan,” Tomlin said about Elliot and their upcoming meeting.
This season has been great for the Steelers and the contrary for Dallas. They can’t catch a break and Elliott is seen as their only hope to make some noise in the NFC East full of losing teams.
As for Pittsburgh, they look unstoppable so far and it’s not expected that the Cowboys are going to be the ones that will change that. Pittsburgh are currently 7-0 in the AFC North, trying to increase that number this Sunday.
