Aaron Rodgers still considers the Pittsburgh Steelers one of his priorities, despite Shedeur Sanders’ recent visit to the city to meet with Mike Tomlin. The information was revealed in a report by Mike Garafolo.
“This is not going to change, I don’t think, unless he has something personal with one of these quarterbacks, what Aaron Rodgers would think about joining the Steelers. He’s made it clear. He’s willing to be the guy that can mentor a quarterback in the right situation. There’s a lot of knowledge up there. If it’s the Steelers with a rookie quarterback, if it’s Shedeur or whoever, I think that’s a good recipe.”
Other reports have indicated that Rodgers, a former Super Bowl champion with the Green Bay Packers, would wait until after the draft to make his decision depending on which teams select quarterbacks. However, according to Garafolo, taking on a mentor role is not an issue for him.
Is Aaron Rodgers retiring?
Aaron Rodgers could retire from football if the Pittsburgh Steelers option doesn’t fully convince him. Additionally, we can’t forget that the quarterback wants to keep the Vikings on his radar in case J.J. McCarthy struggles during the preseason.
At the moment, the only option Rodgers has is to sign with the Steelers, as there are no other teams openly interested in him. One last possibility would be to wait for a quarterback to get injured and then receive a call, but everything will depend on whether the team has championship-caliber potential.
