In a move that could shake up the draft, Andy Reid and the Kansas City Chiefs are reportedly eyeing a surprising trade with the Pittsburgh Steelers, one that could significantly boost Patrick Mahomes' chances of continued success.

Andy Reid and the Kansas City Chiefs want to contend for a championship again after losing the last Super Bowl to the Eagles. For that reason, according to a report from Matt Miller, general manager Brett Veach might consider trading up in the first round.

ā€œI’ve heard that the Kansas City Chiefs are actively looking to trade up in Round 1. They signed left tackle Jaylon Moore in free agency but were otherwise quiet, opting to re-sign their own versus hitting the open market. A move up in Round 1 would likely be for a long-term offensive tackle solution; I heard the goal would be to move in front of the Houston Texans (No. 25) and Los Angeles Rams (No. 26) if the Chiefs like a specific left tackle still on the board.ā€

Another very attractive spot could be No. 21, currently held by the Pittsburgh Steelers. If Josh Simmons or another offensive tackle to protect Patrick Mahomes is still available, a trade with Mike Tomlin’s team could be very feasible.

Who will Chiefs pick in the draft?

The Kansas City Chiefs would like to pick an offensive lineman in the first round of the draft, but since it’s a highly coveted position, waiting at No. 31 might not be the best option.

That’s why, considering the Steelers don’t have a second-round pick because they included it in the trade for DK Metcalf with Seattle, Pittsburgh could think about trading back to gain more draft capital. That’s where the Chiefs would come into play in order to get their man.
