Following a disappointing Super Bowl LIX loss at the hands of Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles, Andy Reid and Travis Kelce have already returned to work as the Kansas City Chiefs aim to bounce back in the 2025 NFL season.
The third phase of the offseason program is well underway in Kansas City, with Reid‘s team in the final week of voluntary organized team activities (OTAs) before mandatory minicamp kicks off on June 17.
In the meantime, the front office continues to make changes to the offseason roster. The Chiefs‘ latest move sees them part ways with a familiar face to make room for a new tight end, adding depth behind Kelce by signing a former teammate of Hurts on the Eagles.
Chiefs cut DT Siaki Ika to sign TE Kevin Foelsch
On Wednesday, Nick Jacobs of KSHB 41 News reported that the Chiefs are waiving defensive tackle Siaki Ika, using his vacant roster spot to sign tight end Kevin Foelsch.

Head coach Andy Reid of the Kansas City Chiefs speaks with Travis Kelce #87 during the NFL match between Miami Dolphins and Kansas City Chiefs at Deutsche Bank Park on November 05, 2023 in Frankfurt am Main, Germany.
Ika, 24, was selected out of Baylor with the 98th pick in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft by the Cleveland Browns, where he spent his first year as a pro before being released in October 2024. After a few weeks with the Eagles, Ika landed on the Chiefs’ practice squad for the remainder of the 2024 NFL season.

Chiefs increase depth at TE room led by Kelce
Foelsch, meanwhile, has also bounced around the NFL but more quickly. After joining the Carolina Panthers as an undrafted free agent in 2024, the tight end spent time with the New York Jets before landing in Philadelphia.
He never got to see significant action with Hurts as most of Foelsch’s time in the City of Brotherly Love came with the Eagles’ practice squad, so the Chiefs represent a huge opportunity to prove his worth in the NFL.
While Kelce’s decision to postpone retirement has allowed the Chiefs to part with other tight ends, it’s a position where the team could use more depth considering the likes of Jared Wiley and Tre Watson are hurt. Only time will tell whether Foelsch gets to stay around Reid and Kelce for long.
