Ben Roethlisberger is undoubtedly one of the most authoritative voices when it comes to talking about the Pittsburgh Steelers. For this reason, in his podcast Footbahlin, the former Super Bowl champion has become a key figure in analyzing the team’s situation.
It is important to remember that, just a few days before the start of free agency, the Steelers have yet to decide whether to sign Russell Wilson or Justin Fields. That move will shape the franchise’s near future.
Although several rumors in the NFL have linked veterans like Aaron Rodgers or Sam Darnold to the list of candidates to play in Pittsburgh, Big Ben has a clear idea of who should get the opportunity in 2025.
Who is the best quarterback for Steelers?
Ben Roethlisberger admitted that Justin Fields is the best quarterback for the Pittsburgh Steelers heading into the 2025 season. The legend pointed out that the young player has great potential in Arthur Smith’s offense.
“I’d like to see what Fields can do in another year of that offense. Whether you want to bring someone else in, but let’s see what he can do in the second year of an offense because there’s some familiarity. He’s had a new system every year. He may be more comfortable. Obviously, we’re not taking into account contracts and all that stuff, but I’d like to see what Fields could do another year. Some of the mobility stuff would be interesting. I know he’s got a good arm and, again, I’m not taking anything away from Russ, but it feels like Fields could be the pick of the future if you wanted.”
