Shedeur Sanders suffered an oblique injury during a joint practice between the Cleveland Browns and the Philadelphia Eagles. However, according to a report by Tom Pelissero, the latest update is very positive for the rookie.
“I’m told there’s cautious optimism that Sanders could return to practice next week and be able to play in the preseason finale. Officially, the Browns are calling him day to day. They’ve got one of many injury issues in that quarterback room.”
At the start of the preseason, Sanders had a strong debut against the Carolina Panthers, but days later, the injury kept him out of the game in Philadelphia and has caused uncertainty about his future on the roster.
Is Shedeur Sanders starting for the Browns?
No. Shedeur Sanders won’t be starting for the Browns. Head coach Kevin Stefanski has made it clear that Joe Flacco holds the advantage to be the team’s QB1 in the 2025 season.
Tom Pelissero confirms that this is the plan in a quarterback room plagued by injuries. “Joe Flacco, he’s been healthy taking all the first team reps. He is in line to be the starter. Kenny Pickett is still dealing with a hamstring injury. They’re hoping Dillon Gabriel could make his debut after his own hamstring injuries.”
