The 2025 NFL offseason presented the Indianapolis Colts with the challenge of resolving the quarterback position, one of the team’s most critical spots. General manager Chris Ballard announced an open competition between Anthony Richardson and Daniel Jones to determine the starter for the upcoming season. In the meantime, a new potential key weapon joins the roster.

Having two contenders for the QB1 role highlights the need to improve performance at a position that has been inconsistent in recent years. At the same time, the Colts are looking to step up offensively. Richardson has shown inconsistency in his early seasons as a pro and now faces real competition for the starting job.

Jones is looking to reestablish his career after a turbulent exit from the New York Giants last season. Following a stint with the Minnesota Vikings, the 27-year-old quarterback may now have a real opportunity to return to the spotlight. In that regard, both he and Richardson will need to build chemistry with the Colts’ offensive weapons.
