When it comes to naming the breakout stars of last season, it’s impossible to overlook the performance of Jayden Daniels and his Washington Commanders. In his rookie year, the former LSU quarterback shattered expectations — even catching the eye of a current NFL head coach who once won a Super Bowl.
Sean McVay is currently one of the select few head coaches to have hoisted the Vince Lombardi Trophy. Having led the Rams to a Super Bowl title just a few years ago, his opinion on anything related to the game naturally carries extra weight.
In a recent conversation with the media, McVay admitted to having a soft spot for Daniels, praising his talent above all else and noting just how terrifying it will be to face him this upcoming NFL season.
“The way he was playing the position, it sure looks sustainable,” McVay said in the ESPN report to John Keim. “He has that swagger, that confidence, that enjoyment with competing … the smile, the ability to be totally immersed in the moment. That’s one of the things I loved about watching him. I don’t see that changing. … He’s going to be really scary for a long time.”

Can Daniels maintain his level next season?
Daniels’ breakout season with the Commanders last year may have been one of the most pleasant surprises in the league in recent times. Alongside Dan Quinn and the rest of his teammates, they accomplished what few believed possible. Now, the question remains: Can the former Tigers QB maintain his level in his second year?

It’s hard to speculate, but undoubtedly, the Washington team will once again be a serious contender to win the NFC East, especially after the competitive roster they’ve been building over the last few months.
Alongside the offensive power led by Daniels and, among others, Terry McLaurin, the arrival of Deebo Samuel from the San Francisco 49ers was confirmed in recent weeks. “One, they’re getting a motivated Deebo. Two, you’re going to get a dog out here. I’m ready to come in here and work,” Samuel said to the press about his arrival.
The stage is set for the Commanders to strike once again, but this time, why not dream of reaching the long-awaited Super Bowl?
