Dak Prescott can be confident that the Dallas Cowboys are making a strong effort to improve the offensive line before the start of the 2025 season, and one of those moves includes adding a new player from the Miami Dolphins.

According to information from Adam Schefter, the Cowboys have reached a one-year agreement with Rob Jones, bringing him to the franchise after his contract with the Dolphins ended. Jones had been with Miami from 2021 to 2024.

Last season, his final one with the Dolphins, Jones had a total of 1,078 snaps, which has been his best figure of his NFL career. Additionally, he was a starter in all the games he was available for (17) for the first time.

Jones’s salary will see a significant increase; the one-year deal with the Cowboys is valued at $4.75 million, a substantial improvement compared to the $2 million contract he had with the Dolphins in his last season with that franchise.

Why do the Cowboys need Rob Jones?

The Cowboys’ goal is clearly to help Dak Prescott with fresh talent, but they are primarily looking to improve the offensive line following the retirement of Zack Martin, who was with the Dallas franchise since 2014 and was available for only 10 games in his last season.

The season was short for the Cowboys

Like other NFL teams, the Cowboys faced serious problems on the offensive line due to injuries. The season became chaotic when Prescott’s surgery was announced, which marked the end of the year for them as they finished with a record of 7-10-0. They hadn’t had a losing record since 2020.
