Jalen Hurts led his Philadelphia Eagles to the top of the NFL after capturing the championship last season. Despite that success, a fellow Super Bowl-winning quarterback made it clear that the former Oklahoma standout isnāt among his top choices when it comes to selecting a QB.
In early September 2023, Chase Daniel announced his retirement from professional football, officially bringing an end to a 13-year career. His greatest achievement came in the early 2010s, when he became a Super Bowl champion with the New Orleans Saints.
During a recent television interview, the former Chargers, Lions, and Bears quarterback made it clear that, in his opinion, Jalen Hurts wouldnāt be among his top choices when starting to build a franchise roster in the league.
āThere are only four guys I would take right now to start a franchise with,ā Daniel said. āLet me rephrase that. There are more than four guys I would take above Jalen Hurts to start a franchise today. And because of that, I canāt sit here and because I donāt want to start a franchise with Jalen Hurts. He may be No. 8, No. 9, or No. 10 on that list. Maybe more.ā

The support of his teammates in Philadelphia
Despite securing a dominant win earlier this year against the reigning contenders, the Kansas City Chiefs, many still found ways to downplay Jalen Hurtsā performance. However, the strong support heās received from his Eagles teammates, the front office, and the coaching staff reinforces his position as the unquestioned leader of this team.
Brandon Graham, who retired from the NFL after winning the Super Bowl at Caesars Superdome, made a brief appearance on Kay Adamsā Up & Adams show ā and had nothing but words of praise for his former teammate.
āJalen Hurts in my book is a top five quarterback,ā Graham started. āHe won a Super Bowl, he automatically goes up there. He won a Super Bowl. I donāt care what team, who did what, all year and all playoffs heās the one who grabs the ball first and hands it off or his mechanics. All of the little things that you donāt think about like clockwork has to go right.
āHow many times do quarterbacks fumble the ball in the big moment and then bam itās game over. Now, youāre looking forward to the next year because a mistake you have to learn from and get ready for next year. People donāt give him credit for those little things but all of that little stuff matters. He practices that stuff every day. Heās in my top five and if I had to go, heās my No. 1 because of him playing. I didnāt play with those other quarterbacks all I know is him and we won the championship. For this year, he has got to be No. 1. He won against the GOAT.ā
