NFL News: Mike Tomlin and Steelers could make surprising decision between Aaron Rodgers, Shedeur Sanders, and another star quarterback

In a move that could reshape the future of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Mike Tomlin and the front office are reportedly weighing a bold and unexpected decision between three of football's most intriguing quarterbacks: Aaron Rodgers, Shedeur Sanders, and another elite signal-caller.

Aaron Rodgers is the priority for the Pittsburgh Steelers, but that won’t be enough to secure the long-term future of the franchise. For this reason, general manager Omar Khan and head coach Mike Tomlin need to be prepared with an alternative plan.

Invariably, that scenario leads the team to the next draft. This week, the big news in the NFL was the surprising visit of Shedeur Sanders to Pittsburgh. The move is unexpected because, according to experts, it is very unlikely that the Colorado prospect will fall to the No. 21 spot.

In their search for a young quarterback who can turn them into Super Bowl contenders for the next 15 years, other names such as Jalen Milroe or Will Howard have been mentioned. However, the spotlight on Shedeur has shifted the focus away from the most intriguing player.

Who is going to be the quarterback for the Steelers?

Jaxson Dart could be the next quarterback for the Steelers, considering he’s the dark horse in many mock drafts and had a sensational Pro Day. In fact, several experts suggest that Shedeur Sanders’ visit could be a smoke screen to hide the true target for Khan and Tomlin.

Last week, Dart was in Steel City, and suddenly, everything pointed to him being the Steelers’ first-round pick. Now, with the news of Sanders visiting Pittsburgh, no one is talking about the Ole Miss star anymore.

With all the attention on Cam Ward and Shedeur Sanders, Mike Tomlin and the Steelers could be playing a game of misdirection by bringing in several quarterbacks for visits when the preferred guy might actually be Jaxson Dart.

It’s important to remember that in 2004, the Steelers had a very similar path. Eli Manning and Philip Rivers were the draft stars, and when Pittsburgh and Bill Cowher surprised with the third option, Ben Roethlisberger turned out to be the true gem of that first round.
