Mike Tomlin and the Pittsburgh Steelers are still willing to wait for Aaron Rodgers, according to a report by Peter Schrager. Even though the quarterback gave them the freedom to move on, the black and gold team will not take the same path as the Giants.
“To his credit, he was very transparent. Aaron Rodgers said the same thing to the Giants and the Steelers. Guys, if you’re going to operate on your timetable, that’s not my timetable, please move on. So, he was very up front. These teams have been given the choice to wait on Aaron Rodgers. The Giants pivoted. The Steelers, however, are willing to wait.”
Schrager mentioned that, from the beginning of the process, the former Super Bowl champion with the Packers has been transparent about his intentions to delay the decision due to problems with his inner circle. If that’s not accepted by the player’s detractors, that’s a different story. What is certain is that the Giants did choose to take him out of their plans, while Pittsburgh will remain patient.
Will Steelers sign Aaron Rodgers?
The Pittsburgh Steelers are aiming to sign Aaron Rodgers as their starting quarterback, and Schrager’s report aligns with what has surfaced in recent weeks: Mike Tomlin intends to remain patient.
The big question is: how long can they wait? Rodgers still needs to meet his new teammates and learn an entirely new playbook. Plus, if Aaron ends up turning them down, the options on the market are quickly running out.

Mason Rudolph is currently QB1, and Tomlin isn’t afraid to roll with him. However, in a very unlikely scenario, there’s still the possibility of pursuing a trade for Kirk Cousins, who is a backup with the Falcons.
