NFL News: Mike Tomlin and Steelers have reportedly made final decision between Aaron Rodgers and drafting a quarterback

With the 2025 NFL Draft quickly approaching, the Pittsburgh Steelers have reportedly made a definitive call on their quarterback future. Sources indicate Mike Tomlin and the front office have drawn the line between chasing a veteran legend and investing in a new era under center.

Aaron Rodgers will not determine how Mike Tomlin and the Pittsburgh Steelers operate in the upcoming draft, according to a report by Ray Fittipaldo. The team is planning to select a quarterback regardless of the veteran’s response.

ā€œI kind of feel like they’re gonna draft a quarterback no matter what. Aaron Rodgers is gonna be 42 next fall. It’s a one-year deal with him. We all know that. So, their 2025 draft process doesn’t really change a whole heck of a lot. I still think they’re gonna draft one. I think just, now, it’s a matter of what round.ā€

In recent days, NFL rumors have linked Shedeur Sanders as a potential option for the Steelers if he falls to the No. 21 pick. If that doesn’t happen, Jaxson Dart is the other name that’s been strongly mentioned.

Who will be Steelers’ starting quarterback?

Aaron Rodgers is the top priority for the Steelers as their starting quarterback, but if the former Super Bowl champion doesn’t sign with the team, Mason Rudolph would take over the offense, and Pittsburgh would likely add a player at that position through the draft.

If they don’t land Sanders or Dart in the first round, Jalen Milroe and Will Howard are third-round options. Right now, the Steelers only have Rudolph and Skylar Thompson on the roster.
