Green Bay Packers are preparing for the 2025 NFL season with the goal of establishing Jordan Love as their star quarterback, leading Matt LaFleur’s team back into the playoff picture and returning to the forefront in critical league moments.
After a standout 2024 campaign, in which he threw for 3,389 yards, 25 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions, Love has become a key piece for the team. Head coach LaFleur trusts his leadership and judgment, not only on the field but also in making decisions regarding his physical health.
During the preseason, Love suffered an injury to his left thumb, his non-dominant hand, which required a minor surgery. While there was initially uncertainty about how long his recovery would take, the setback was minor, and the Packers quarterback explained why he chose to undergo the procedure.
The reason for Love’s surgery
“Dealing with injuries last year, I wanted to go into this thing feeling good. With the time frame that we have right now, finishing up training camp and preseason, and heading into the season with the choice to be going into the season 100 percent healthy, that was definitely the call I wanted to make,” Love said, according to Packers Wire.

Who will replace Love in the preseason?
During Love’s absence, regular starter Malik Willis will take over as quarterback in the Packers’ preseason games. LaFleur praised the opportunity this presents for Willis but is eager for the prompt return of his QB1.
