One of the biggest debates to emerge in the NFL in recent months centers around the Philadelphia Eagles’ unique style of play — particularly the controversial short-yardage tactic known as the Tush Push. The play has drawn so much attention that even Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love has decided to weigh in on the conversation.
In a recent interview with Sports Illustrated, one of the league’s most promising young quarterbacks made his stance on the issue clear, stating that as long as the plays are legal, they’re fair game on the field.
“I think it’s football. I think as long as it’s legal, it’s a legal play right now, until they change something, it’s football,” Love said.
“That’s the name of the game. Offenses, we’re going to put in the a play that we hope is unstoppable like that. We hope that it takes a defense a lot of work to be able to try and stop what we’re doing. I think the answer is, we’ve just got to find a way to stop it as a defense. It’s a tough play, but there’s plenty of other plays that are pretty unstoppable as well. But it’s football.”

Will the Tush Push be banned next season?
The debate surrounding the use of the Tush Push has reached a point where the teams of the league will officially vote on whether or not the play will continue to be allowed in NFL games.

While the vote was initially expected to take place during the annual league meetings earlier this month, the decision has been postponed until next month, according to Albert Breer via his official X account.
“The tush-push ban has been tabled until May, per source,” the NFL reporter stated via @AlbertBreer.
Where the Packers stand on the Tush Push debate
One of the main voices pushing for the league to put an end to the Eagles’ use of the Tush Push has been the Green Bay Packers, who recently sent a clear message to the NFL regarding their stance on the controversial play.
“I think certainly the medical professionals at the league have high concerns about putting players in positions that could lead to catastrophic injuries. I think this is something that needs to be discussed and we need to be proactive with it rather than be reactive on that. I think we owe it to our players. It’s not about success. It’s about safety here,” the Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst stated.
