Shedeur Sanders has dropped another hint that the Pittsburgh Steelers could draft him in the first round regardless of the current situation with Aaron Rodgers.
This was his response on the podcast The Rush when Maxx Crosby asked him about the Mount Rushmore of quarterback-wide receiver duos. With only one pair left to choose after mentioning Tom Brady-Rob Gronkowski, Aaron Rodgers-Davante Adams and Derek Carr-Chris Olave, Shedeur surprised everyone. âWhoever is going to be the quarterback for DK Metcalf and George Pickens. Whoever that is. Whatever that means for whoever is listening.â
The Steelers are in urgent need of a franchise quarterback to compete for the Super Bowl, and in recent weeks, Deion Sandersâ son has gained a lot of momentum as a potential pick if heâs available at the No. 21 spot.
Who will be Steelers starting quarterback?
Shedeur Sanders could be the future starting quarterback for the Steelers. In an ideal scenario, Pittsburgh wants Aaron Rodgers to play for them in 2025, allowing the rookie to learn for a year from a mentor who is headed to the Hall of Fame.
If Rodgers doesnât sign, Mason Rudolph would lead the transition, but Shedeur would still be the long-term project. In any case, general manager Omar Khan has indicated they would look for another veteran quarterback, and thatâs where Kirk Cousins could come into play.

Obviously, for all of this to happen, Shedeur would have to fall to the 21st spot, or the Steelers would need to trade up, even though they donât have much draft capital. Thatâs the big question, especially with other teams like the Giants or Saints potentially involved.
