NFL News: Steelers Super Bowl champion suggests Mike Tomlin could be on the hot seat if Aaron Rodgers fails in Pittsburgh

Mike Tomlin's job security might not be as solid as it seems. According to a former Steelers Super Bowl champion, the pressure is mounting, and if the Aaron Rodgers experiment doesn't work out, Pittsburgh's longtime head coach could find himself on the hot seat for the first time in his career.

Mike Tomlin could find himself on the hot seat with the Pittsburgh Steelers if Aaron Rodgers fails to deliver as the starting quarterback. That is the opinion of Ryan Clark, former Super Bowl champion with the black and gold team.

“I don’t think Mike Tomlin is fireable, but, I also know that any other team, any other coach that has been non-competitive as the Pittsburgh Steelers have been in the playoffs, they’re looking for a change. They’ve got to win something this year. They have to show promise this year. If they don’t, there is an uncomfortable conversation that we’re gonna have to have in the media and they’re gonna have in their building.”

The Steelers haven’t won a playoff game since the 2016 season, and their last championship was over 16 years ago. For that reason, Clark believes the margin for error is running out for Tomlin, since he was the main proponent of the idea to bring in Rodgers.

Will Steelers fire Mike Tomlin?

No. Mike Tomlin is under contract through the 2027 season, and at the moment, there are no signs that the Pittsburgh Steelers are considering a change. However, the experiment with Aaron Rodgers could modify things.

Many fans disagree with the Steelers’ decision to wait for Rodgers, and if another failure happens, team ownership could finally start to analyze whether Tomlin is still the right option for the future or if the formula is worn out.
