One of the most talked-about situations surrounding the Kansas City Chiefs was the contract extension demanded by Super Bowl champion Trey Smith — a request the franchise ultimately agreed to. Confident in the team’s ability to retain one of his most important teammates, Patrick Mahomes shared his thoughts on the matter.

The upcoming NFL season kicks off with good news for a team once again looking to contend. Talented guard Trey Smith will remain under Andy Reid’s leadership as the Chiefs set their sights on a third Vince Lombardi Trophy.

This important move was very well received within the facilities — especially by the locker room — as the team will now have a key piece of protection in place for their quarterback starting in Week 1.

Trey Smith’s lucrative contract extension

After extensive negotiations between both sides, Trey Smith reached an agreement with the Chiefs and will remain in Kansas City for at least four more years.

“It’s a 4-year, $94M deal with $70M guaranteed. Massive,” NFL insider Ian Rapoport revealed through his official X account (formerly Twitter).
