No one can deny the fact that, when healthy, Cam Newton is one of the most talented and disruptive quarterbacks in the NFL. However, he’s had a lot of trouble with that ‘staying healthy’ part and his Patriots teammate Julian Edelman is well aware of that.

Newton has ha to undergo four surgeries over the past three seasons. In fact, a nagging foot injury limited to just a couple of games in 2019 before the Carolina Panthers turned the page and released him this summer.

And now that Newton embraced the challenge of replacing Tom Brady under center for Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots, Edelman spoke up on how keeping him healthy is a priority for the team, while he also lauded his elusiveness.

Patriots To Take Well Care Of Cam Newton

“I think our coaching staff is going to do the best they can to put him in the best situation to go out and help lead this team, and lead this offense whether that’s running, throwing, that’s up to Coach [Josh] McDaniels. Cam’s a big man. He plays smart. If you really watch, he didn’t take any crazy hits. He looks like a really fast defensive end playing, guys are bouncing off of him,” Edelman told Boston.com.

Newton has made a name for being reckless when drawing contact. He loves taking risks and while that’s one of the things that make him great, it’s also made him take a beating more often than not throughout his career.

If Newton can stay healthy, the Patriots will stay in playoff contention. That’s why the offensive line must do a great job at protecting the former MVP but he also oughta take a look in the mirror and do what’s best for him and his body if he doesn’t want to be out of a job again pretty soon.
