The Seattle Seahawks shook things up during the last offseason, betting on Sam Darnold’s experience to lead the offense in the upcoming NFL season. The bad news for the veteran QB is that he will no longer have a key piece in the offensive lineup.
The latest news reports a significant decision made by the franchise: they have released the experienced Noah Fant after several seasons with the team. The tight end will now have to look for new opportunities in the short term.
This intriguing move by the Seahawks was announced by NFL insider Tom Pelissero via his official X (formerly Twitter) account: “The #Seahawks have released TE Noah Fant.”
During his three seasons in Seattle, the experienced tight end appeared in 48 games, recording 48 receptions for 1,400 yards and scoring five touchdowns.

Sam Darnold will still have several options available, including rookie Elijah Arroyo, AJ Barner and also Eric Saubert. The roster also features undrafted tight ends Marshall Lang and Nick Kallerup, who will be looking to earn a spot during preseason.

What’s next for the Seahawks?
Mike Macdonald takes the reins in Seattle with clear objectives: reshape the Seahawks into a formidable contender and bring a Super Bowl back to the Pacific Northwest. His defensive mind, honed in Baltimore, aims to establish a dominant identity. The front office has also made bold moves, signaling a strong intent to compete immediately.
The additions of quarterback Sam Darnold and veteran wide receiver Cooper Kupp inject new dynamics into the offense. Darnold looks to revive his career with a fresh start, while Kupp brings elite route-running and a proven championship pedigree. Keep an eye on rookie Jalen Milroe too; his raw athleticism and dual-threat potential offer an exciting long-term upside, possibly even contributing in special packages early on.
Can these Seahawks reach the Super Bowl? It’s a tall order in a stacked NFC. While the talent infusion is undeniable, the success of the new coaching staff and how quickly the new pieces gel will be paramount. Their path will be challenging, but with Macdonald’s vision and an intriguing blend of veterans and promising youth, a deep playoff run isn’t out of the question.
