The Los Angeles Rams have serious aspirations of becoming legitimate title contenders, and they can’t afford to leave anything to chance. Building a roster capable of meeting the moment will be key for Sean McVay‘s team — and that could eventually include the addition of a new star from the AFC.

The player in question is a familiar face in Inglewood — someone who already knows what it’s like to win a Super Bowl with the Rams. Jalen Ramsey has repeatedly expressed his desire to leave the Dolphins, prompting immediate speculation about a potential return to Los Angeles.

While the cornerback has made it clear in South Florida that he wants out of the franchise, there’s no guarantee his final destination will reunite him with several of his former teammates on the West Coast.

The HC addresses possibility of Ramsey rejoining Rams

McVay doesn’t seem opposed to the potential arrival of Jalen Ramsey, as the star cornerback would undoubtedly elevate a defense aiming to become one of the best in the NFC. Still, the Rams’ head coach is well aware that several unpredictable factors could complicate the trade.

“Usually, those are scenarios and situations that you have to have plans in place prior to executing some of the decisions that have occurred,” he said from Maui for the team’s mandatory minicamp.

“Definitely don’t want to rule anything out because we’re always open-minded to onboarding and acquiring quality players and people like him if we’re able to do that, but there would be some obstacles that are real that are in the place of maybe preventing that from occurring.”

Defensive options on the table for McVay

Recent rumors about Ramsey joining the team haven’t changed Sean McVay’s mindset. He knows there are several options to fill that position, though obviously, the arrival of the former Super Bowl champion would bring a significant upgrade.

The Rams plan to proceed with Darious Williams and Ahkello Witherspoon as their primary starters, while Cobie Durant, Emmanuel Forbes, Josh Wallace, and the recently re-signed Derion Kendrick compete intensely for playing time and opportunities to earn snaps in the defensive backfield.
