Patrick Mahomes appears to be the clear favorite to win the 2020 NFLMVP award. The Kansas City Chiefs superstar has done more than enough to win the coveted prize but there could be somebody that ruins his plans and snatches the award at the end of the season.

Former tight end Shannon Sharpe has made the case for another player, explaining that their recent performances could give them the edge over Mahomes, whose last games haven’t been that good.

The Chiefs have secured their playoffs spot, the AFC route to the Super Bowl will go through Arrowhead Stadium so the player isn’t too worried about putting the same numbers he posted at the start of the season.

Shannon Sharpe says Aaron Rodgers can beat Pat Mahomes for MVP award

The 2020 MVP award will be given to one of Aaron Rodgers (Green Bay Packers), Patrick Mahomes (Kansas City Chiefs), Russell Wilson (Seattle Seahawks) or Derrick Henry (Tennessee Titans), but Sharpe has apparently identified his favorites to take the award home.

During a recent edition of FS1’s Undisputed, Sharpe made the case for Rodgers, explaining even in the defeats, he has been great for his team, the best team in the NFC, Green Bay Packers.

“If you look at Rodgers over the current five game winning streak, Skip, he’s 15 touchdowns and one interception. Now he’s over 4000 passing yards, 44 touchdowns to five interceptions. That’s just ridiculous. And if you look at it, I will say he had one bad game, Mahomes has had a bad game. But the other two losses for Rogers, he’s 291 three touchdowns against Minnesota.”

“They’re tied yards per pass attempt. But 14 wins to Even if he throws for you know, 300-400 yards, four touchdowns. I just don’t (think he will win MVP) because Rodgers’ numbers are going to be so astronomical, it is hard for someone to throw that many touchdowns, that few interceptions and not win the MVP considering that they’ll beat Chicago and be the number one seed,” Sharpe said.

Just like Mahomes and the Chiefs, Rodgers and the Packers are looking terrific this season and this is a matchup we could watch in the Super Bowl LV if both teams are able to land in the biggest game of the season.

A-Rod is doing great things this season and seeing him win the MVP award wouldn’t be crazy. Mahomes picked things right where he left them last season and is still a threat for everybody around the league but the Green Bay Packers legend can steal that trophy from his hands with ease.
