The Miami Dolphins are aiming to make a statement in the AFC East and, in turn, position themselves as true title contenders in the NFL. To achieve that, the front office is focused on surrounding Tua Tagovailoa with the best possible support, and the latest report points to serious interest in one of Justin Herbert’s teammates from the Los Angeles Chargers.
Coming from Florida State, Asante Samuel Jr. entered the league after being selected by the Chargers with the 47th overall pick in the second round. While he was an important piece of Herbert‘s team, a serious neck injury last season forced him to miss much of the campaign.
Although no formal offer has been made by the Dolphins yet, according to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald, the team coached by Mike McDaniel is interested in acquiring the services of the talented cornerback.
“…the Dolphins have conveyed interest and said they want to keep tabs on his recovery from neck surgery and want to remain in touch. If something materializes with the Dolphins and Samuel, it likely would happen in July,” Jackson reported.

Throughout his NFL career, Samuel has recorded 37 passes defensed and six interceptions. Due to the neck injury that required surgery, he was only able to appear in four games last season.

What will happen with Jalen Ramsey?
Much has been said about Jalen Ramsey’s future in the league, and according to several reports in recent weeks, he may be on his way out of South Florida. The star cornerback has reportedly requested a fresh start beginning next season.
Despite that, there have been no significant developments regarding what might happen with one of the key figures in Mike McDaniel’s defense. However, his future appears to be more likely away from Miami than within it.
The potential arrival of Asante Samuel Jr. could eventually fill the void left by Ramsey’s departure, as the veteran cornerback reportedly wouldn’t mind wearing a different uniform next season.
