One of the top NFL teams of all time the New England Patriots have won six Super Bowls, all coming in the twenty-first century, winning in 2001, 2003, 2004, 2014, 2016, and 2018. They have claimed 11 AFC titles and have appeared in the playoffs on 27 occasions.

The Patriots were founded in 1959 as the Boston Patriots, an original member of the AFL, then they joined the NFL in 1970 when the two leagues merged.  Until the 2000s the Patriots were a modest NFL team, but when Bill Belichick and quarterback Tom Brady arrived at the club it all changed. 16 AFC titles and 18 consecutive winning seasons have followed. They have appeared in nine Super Bowls and the six titles are the most by any Quarterback/ Head Coach tandem in NFL history.

Their soccer-inspired jerseys take a bit from the other team owned by the Kraft’s, the New England Revolution, but it also has the Patriots signature. The home jersey is inspired by the team’s colors and the away kit by the United States flag. The Patriots are one of the most dominant teams in the NFL and their jersey shows that American pride.

New England Patriots Revolution inspired home jersey

The Patriots and Revolution go hand in hand, it took a revolution to form the United States and the Patriots have caused a revolution of their own since 2000, becoming the top dynasty in the NFL. The design has some of the characteristics of the Revolution markings on the front and the crest over the heart, the place our hand goes when we sing the national anthem.

At the bottom, in old-style English font "1959" is printed, as a commemorative for the year the team was founded. On the back, a classic Patriots logo runs across the neck and the same revolution markings run along the back.

The crest is the classic Patriots logo embedded over the stripes of the American flag. The round logo, like that of Bayern Munich, represents the American pride the Patriots show, and how they have become America’s new team.

The American Flag inspired New England Patriots Jersey

The away jersey takes its inspiration from the American flag. The stripes run across the entire jersey in a waving motion. A star is present as an homage to the Patriot Star in the team’s crest. On the back in the team’s logo lettering, "NE" is written to pay homage to the team’s home city.

As noted earlier on the home jersey the old Patriots 1960 – 1992 logo is on the back. The current Patriots logo was revisioned in 2000, ironically, the year the team began its road to become the NFL’s top team.

On the away, the team's nickname The Pats is on the bottom of the kit. A reminder of the club’s roots and who they are, they are the Patriots, not only New England’s team but a team that has become America’s new team. Winning is what the Patriots are all about.

What do you think of the Patriots jersey? Is it what you expected? Could they be just as successful if they played soccer?
