The unexpected team that could land Deshaun Watson

San Francisco 49ers, New York Jets, Denver Broncos, and even Miami Dolphins could look to trade for Deshaun Watson. However, there's still a dark-horse that could swoop in and lure him away.

Well, it seems like Deshaun Watson’s departure from the Houston Texans is inevitable at this point. The talented quarterback is reportedly living at the organization and has reached a point of no return in his decision.

Watson is angry because of the way the franchise has done business lately. They didn’t consider his views or his teammates’ in their search for a new head coach, which put the cherry on top of the sundae in an already complicated situation.

So, with multiple teams looking to add a proven gunslinger like him and having enough assets to pull the trigger on a move, no one knows for a fact who’s going to end on top of Watson’s sweepstakes.

Obviously, quarterback-needy teams with high draft picks like the New York Jets or Jacksonville Jaguars come to mind, but according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, there could be a dark-horse ready to swoop in on the race.

Carolina Panthers Could Trade For Deshaun Watson

Rapoport said that, even though the Carolina Panthers will be picking lower in this upcoming NFL draft, they could still try and make a move for the Clemson product to try and get an upgrade over Teddy Bridgewater:

“They have the eighth pick, so obviously not as high as, say, the Jets or Dolphins, but that is also a team that needs very badly to solve its quarterback issues. And (has) an owner who is not afraid to make big bold moves,” he said.

Watson is coming off anMVP-caliber season (statistically speaking)despite not having a single top-tier weapon, yet the Texans had a season to forget. He’s clearly outgrown the team and is talented enough to lead a better squad to a Super Bowl.

So, if the Carolina Panthers find the way to trade for Watson without parting ways with Christian McCaffrey, we could be looking at one of the most explosive and entertaining offenses in the world.
