Titans head coach Brian Callahan warns the NFL about potential breakout season for Cam Ward’s key weapon

The Tennessee Titans are dreading for a change. The NFL waits for no one and that's why the team drafted Cam Ward. However, he is not alone, according to head coach Brian Callahan, as one of his weapons might break out.

As the NFL 2025 season approaches, the Tennessee Titans are in the middle of a rebuild with new quarterback Cam Ward. However, head coach Brian Callahan stated that one player can surge as a key weapon on offense.

Entering his third year, running back Tyjae Spears is now the one who has shocked the coaching staff. Spears has never been a starter on the Titans and this year might not be different, since Tony Pollard is on a better spot. However, his snap count might increase a lot.

Brian Callahan said during the offseason, “I give a lot of credit to him because he’s had an unbelievable offseason in terms of his energy, his effort, his clarity and what he wants to get done. So I’ve been really pleased with where Tyjae is at.” Those are big words from the guy who is in charge.

Spears was a highly-touted prospect back in the day

Spears was a third-round pick in 2023. In two years with Tennessee, he has 765 yards and 6 touchdowns. For a guy who was slated to be a protagonist, Spears hasn’t delivered as much, but it all might change after Callahan’s endorsement.

Spears’ skillset include being a pass-catcher, he has added another 609 receiving yards to his name, alongside two touchdowns. He has been a good depth piece but it seems like the Tulane product has all the tools to be even more impactful.

The Titans have a sneaky-good offense

It will all depend on Cam Ward‘s ability to move the chains even though his weapons are not elite. Having said that, they are not bad. The Titans have an under-the-radar offense that will join the rookie quarterback.

His weapons are veterans but productive. Calvin Ridley will be his first option as receiver, Tyler Lockett is coming from Seattle to become a safe target for the rookie too. Tennessee brought Van Jefferson as well. That receiving corp will join Tony Pollard and Tyjae Spears in the running game. Is not a stacked unit, but it does have talent.
