Tom Brady is one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time and thatās just a fact, not an opinion. Heās got the rĆ©sumĆ©, accolades, numbers, and intangibles to back up that claim, at least until further notice.
Brady has dominated the NFL almost at will over the past two decades, making it to 9 Super Bowls and winning 6 of them. Nonetheless, some people still believe that he was mostly favored by Bill Belichickās system and that his milestones should be looked at with a grain of salt.
Whether thatās the truth or not is not for us to decide, but what we can all agree on is that Brady should be considered, at least, a top-3 gunslinger in NFL history. Or well, at least thatās what we thought.
Tony Dungy Calls Tom Brady The Sixth Hardest Quarterback To Defend
But according to former player and coach Tony Dungy, Brady didnāt even crackthe top-5 when it comes to being the hardest quarterback to defend, as he boldly said in an interview with Shannon Sharpe:
āThose mobile quarterbacks ā thatās who I put ahead of Tom. Aaron Rodgers, John Elway, Steve Young, guys who could move. Not to say Tom wasnāt great, but that extra dimension meant something to me, so thatās why I would only put him at [No.] 6. Just my opinion. (ā¦) Iām never putting Tom Brady ahead of Peyton Manning, so the best he could be is [No.] 2, because Peyton was my guy,ā Dungy said.
Tom Brady Trolls Tony Dungy Over Quarterback Ranking
Needless to say, it didnāt take long before the Tampa Bay Buccaneersā star fired back at Dungy and the Indianapolis Colts, one of his preferred victims. Brady took to Twitter to post a pic with a banner of the Colts that read 2014 AFC Finalists.
Perhaps Brady didnāt recall that Dungy wasnāt coaching the Colts in 2014 when he beat them but it was hilarious nonetheless. Still, he can brag about going 5-3 vs. Dungyās teams throughout his career.
Obviously, Tom Brady may not be the most mobile or even talented quarterback of all time but given all that heās accomplished in the National Football League, itās hard not to put him on the podium.
