The Carolina Hurricanes face a troubling streak, having lost 14 straight Conference Final games since 2006. The 2025 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs series against the Florida Panthers stands at 0-2, and the Canes are in urgent need of a spark. Left wing Taylor Hall hopes to ignite that reaction, his postgame comments served as both motivation and a warning to the team led by star Brad Marchand.
Head coach Rod Brind’Amour acknowledged the need for the team to raise its level of play. The Hurricanes’ concern is evident after failing to capitalize on home ice in the first two games of the series. That’s why a swift assessment and response are essential.
The series now shifts to Sunrise, Florida, where the Marchand’s Panthers will look to capitalize on their advantage and attempt to close out the series on home ice. With a chance to sweep the Conference Final and punch their ticket to the Stanley Cup Final, they must remain cautious, Hall and the rest of the Hurricanes are not backing down.
Taylor Hall’s statement after the Game 2 loss to the Panthers
“I mean, they just went seven games against the Leafs, right? They’re not a perfect hockey team and we know that there are areas to exploit, like any team,” Hall strongly said, with a subtle warning for Panthers, via Greg Wyshynski.

Panthers could lose a key player
Not everything is going smoothly for the Panthers in this series. During the first period, Florida lost Sam Reinhart, who left the ice with a lower-body injury. As a result, Brad Marchand could be without a crucial teammate for the remainder of the series against the Canes.
