The Boston Bruins remain adrift following Brad Marchand’s departure to the Florida Panthers. Head coach Joe Sacco’s team suffered a 4-1 loss to the Montreal Canadiens, marking their tenth straight loss of the 2024 25 NHL season, which is currently the longest losing streak in the league.
Boston showed no real tools to beat Montreal. The Canadiens jumped to a 2–0 lead with goals from Christian Dvorak and Cole Caufield in the second period. Brendan Gallagher and Nick Suzuki also added a goal and an assist each. The Bruins’ only goal came from Elias Lindholm in the third period.
After the game, Bruins defenseman Nikita Zadorov expressed his frustration in what has become a tense atmosphere for the Boston team following the departure of Marchand, the longtime star who left the roster to join Florida. Joe Sacco’s squad is in a free fall with no end in sight.
Nikita Zadorov’s harsh admission after Bruins’ losing streak
“The other teams are just hungrier than ours. They want to win more, that’s the bottom line. We’re just not hard on the puck. We’re easy to play against,” Zadorov said after loss against Canadiens, according to NHL.com.

What did head coach Joe Sacco say about the Bruins’ loss?
“It’s going to take 60 minutes of consistent hockey right now. And I think we have moments where we play well, but not long enough, during the course of a game. We have to be able to sustain more a 60-minute effort and I think that’s what it’s going to take,” Boston interim coach Sacco said.

Bruins’ losing streak
It’s clear this is not an easy time for Boston. Marchand’s move to a direct contender like Florida delivers not only a blow on the ice but may also be affecting the current roster’s morale and sense of commitment. The loss to Montreal ties the eighth-worst streak in Bruins history, with the most recent being a 10-game skid from January 16 to February 10, 2010.
