After years of torment and disheartening seasons, the Anaheim Ducks are determined to escape the NHL’s basement, and Joel Quenneville’s hiring is only the first step on their plan. The next item on their to-do list might be the signing of a top free agent in the upcoming class.
The Ducks have been far from a contender in the NHL during the past seasons, failing to make the Stanley Cup Playoffs in each of their last seven seasons. That might all change with the addition of a star to their ranks.
Although the Ducks feature great young talents like Leo Carlsson, Mason McTavish, and Lukas Dostal, they seem to be missing a true superstar and household name in the NHL to truly elevate their team to the next level. And that might be exactly what Coach Q is after ahead of his first offseason in Ducktown.
Fresh start for Marner
According to insider Frank Seravalli, the Ducks are among the frontrunners to land Mitch Marner during the 2025 NHL free agency period. Needless to say, the 28-year-old would provide a huge impact to the roster in Anaheim.
“Anaheim Ducks are a team to watch for Mitch Marner in addition to Vegas, Anaheim offers more anonymity and willing to pay big money,” Seravalli stated.
