With the Copa America 2021 almost here, the South American teams are getting ready for the regional competition. Peru will be participating in the tournament with the hope of getting good performances.
Ricardo Gareca’s side will try to repeat in this edition the success they had in 2019 when they reached the final, although they lost 3-1 to the host Brazil. They were close to lifting the trophy, as they did in 1939 and 1975.
La Blanquirroja just got their first win at the Conmebol World Cup Qualifiers against Ecuador, and they will want to keep that way in Brazil. They are grouped with Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador and Venezuela. Here is Peru’s schedule for the Copa America 2021.
Peru vs Brazil – June 17
Peru will start the tournament against the hosts in a revival of the last final. They will clash at the Olímpico Nilton Santos and the game will start at 8:00 PM (ET). It will be a tough match for Peru, who lost 4-2 in their last encounter.
Peru vs Colombia – June 20
Three days later, Peru will face Colombia to try to get revenge for the 3-0 loss they suffered at the hands of Los Cafeteros. The match will start at 8:00 PM (ET) and it will be played at Estádio Olímpico Pedro Ludovico Teixeira, in Goiânia.
Peru vs Ecuador – June 23
This will, presumably, be a crucial match for the group. The encounter will be played at Estádio Olímpico Pedro Ludovico Teixeira, in the city of Goiânia, and it will start at 5:00 PM (ET). For Matchday 8 of World Cup Qualifiers, Peru won 2-1 against La Tricolor.
Peru vs Venezuela – June 27
Their last game in the group stage will be against La Vinotinto. They will meet at Estadio Nacional de Brasília and the game will start at 5:00 PM (ET). These two teams could need these points to reach the quarterfinals, so it promises excitement.
