Liverpool struggled to dictate the pace of the game albeit having most of the chances in the first half and it was pretty clear that Klopp had to move a couple of pieces if he wanted to have a shot at leveling the score.
Takumi Minamino and Naby Keita were sent to replace Neco Williams and James Millner, respectively, and the Reds were in absolute control of the game. Their high-octane offense and constant pressure finally allowed them to tie the game after Mo Salah found Minamino in the center of the box at the 73-minute mark.

Arteta sent Josep Willock, Reiss Nelson, and Sead Kolasinac to the pitch with little under 10 minutes to play and the Gunners had a couple of chances to get a late-game lead, but the final score had to be settled from the penalty spot, with wunderkid Rhian Brewster replacing Georginio Wijnaldum right before the shootout.
