Mexico's national soccer team finished last year unbeaten and showing some convincing performances. Gerardo Martino's side will have new challenges this 2021, including international friendlies, the CONCACAF Nations League, the Gold Cup and the CONCACAF World Cup 2022 qualifiers. Here you will find the national team's schedule, dates and rivals.

The Mexican side played five international friendlies in 2020 between October and Novemeber. 'El Tricolor' recorded four victories and a draw, with the 1-0 away win over the Netherlands standing out.

This year, coach Martino and the players will finally face the challenges they have been preparing for in 2020: the CONCACAF Nations League, the 2021 CONCACAF Gold Cup and the CONCACAF World Cup 2022 qualifiers. Although due to calendar issues, some dates have not been confirmed for the moment. Mexico 4 Dominican Republic 1 (Olympic Qualifiers) - March 18, 2021

Mexico Under-23 national team, coached by Jaime Lozano, began its Concacaf Olympic Qualifying Tournament against Dominican Republic at the Estadio Jalisco in Guadalajara on March 18. El Tricolor won 4-1 with a hat-trick scored by Sebastián Córdova and anothet goal netted by Carlos Rodríguez. They also share the Group A with the United States and Costa Rica.

Mexico 3 Costa Rica 0 (Olympic Qualifiers) - March 21, 2021

The Tricolor played their second Concacaf Men's Olympic Qualifying Championship game against Costa Rica on March 21 at Akron Stadium, and clinched an outstanding 3-0 victory to secure a place in the semifinals.

Mexico 1 United States 0 (Olympic Qualifiers) - March 24, 2021

And last but not least, the most expected game of the tournament. Mexico defeated the United States 1-0 with a goal scored by Uriel Antuna on March 24 at the Estadio Jalisco. Lozano's side finished at the top of the Group A with perfect score in the 2021 Concacaf Men's Olympic Qualifying Championship

Mexico 0 Wales 1 - March 27, 2021

Mexico made a new European tour in March to play an international friendly. It was one of the team's first matches of the year. Who was Mexico's rival? Wales, on March 27 at the Cardiff City Stadium. It was the fifth game between these two national teams and finished in a 1-0 defeat for Mexico.

 

Mexico 2 Canada 0 - March 28, 2021 (Olympic Qualifiers Semifinals)

Mexico qaulified for the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo on March 28 at the Jalisco Stadium, in Guadalajara, after beating Canada 2-0 in the 2021 Concacaf Men's Olympic Qualifying Championship semifinals. Uriel Antuna and Johan Vasquez scored for El Tricolor.

Mexico 1 Costa Rica 0 - March 30, 2021

The team coached by Gerardo 'Tata' Martino recovered from its defeat to Wales in its first international friendly of the year by beating Costa Rica 1-0, on March 30. Hirving 'Chucky' Lozano scored the winning goal in the 89th minute to give Mexico their first victory in 2021.

Mexico 1 Honduras 1 (5-4) - March 30, 2021 (Olympic Qualifiers Final)

The Mexico Under-23 national team became the 2021 Concacaf Men's Olympic Qualifying Championship champions on March 30 after beating Honduras 5-4 on penalties. The match finished in a 1-1 draw, but Jaime Lozano's side managed to clinch the title in the penalty shootout. El Tricolor have already qualified for the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo after reaching the tournament's final.

Mexico 2 Iceland 1 - May 30, 2021

Gerardo Martino's side came from behind to beat Iceland 2-1 on May 30 in their last international friendly before playing the Concacaf Nations League semifinals against Costa Rica. Hirving 'Chuky' Lozano scored twice in the second half to give Mexico de victory at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

 

Mexico 0 (5) Costa Rica 0 (4) - June 3 (Nations League Semifinals)

The Mexico national soccer team advanced to the 2021 Concacaf Nations League final after beating Costa Rica 5-4 on penalties in the semifinals. Martino's side dominated the ball during the game, but failed to find the net during the 90 minutes.

Mexico 2 United States 3 - June 6, 2021 (Nations League Final)

Mexico lost 3-2 to the USMNT on Sunday, June 6, at the Empower Field at Mile High in Denver in the 2021 Concacaf Nations League Final.

Mexico 3 Panama 0 - June 30, 2021 (International Friendly)

The Mexico national soccer team defeated Panama 3-0 in an international friendly before the start of the 2021 Gold Cup. Gerardo Martino's side won the game at the Nissan Stadium, in Nashville, with goals scored by Diego Lainez, Cesar Montes and Henry Martin.

Mexico 4 Nigeira 0 - July 4, 2021 (International friendly)

The Mexican national team coached by Gerardo Martino defeated Nigeria 4-0 at the United Airlines Field at the Memorial Coliseum in Los Angeles in its last international friendly game before the 2021 Gold Cup. Hector Herrera (2), Rogelio Funes Mori and Jonathan dos Santos.

The 2021 Gold Cup will take place from July 10th to August 1. Mexico, winners of the 2019 edition, will compete in Group A against El Savador, Curcao and one national team from the preliminary round.

Mexico 0 Trinidad and Tobago 0 - July 10, 2021 (Gold Cup)

Mexico started their campaign in the 2021 Concacaf Gold Cup with a scoreless draw against Trinidad and Tobago. It wasn't the debut coach Gerardo Martino expected, but the national team is still one of the favorites to reach the grand final.

Mexico 3 Guatemala 0- July 14, 2021 (Gold Cup)

Mexico defeated Guatemala 3-0 to clinch their first victory in the 2021 Concacaf Gold Cup. Rogelio Funes Mori (2) and Orbelin Pineda scored for Gerardo Martino's national team.

Mexico 1 El Salvador 0 - July 18, 2021 (Gold Cup)

The Mexican national team finished at the top of Group A of the 2021 Concacaf Gold Cup after beating El Salvador 1-0 with a goal scored by Luis Rodríguez on Sunday 18th at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas, Texas.

Mexico 3 Honduras 0 - July 24, 2021 (Gold Cup Quarterfinals)

After winning the Group A, Mexico defeated Honduras 3-0 on Saturday 24th at the State Farm Stadium in Arizona to advance to the 2021 Concacaf Gold Cup semifinals. Rogelio Funes Mori, Jonathan dos Santos and Orbelin Pineda scored for Martino's side.

Mexico 4 France 1 - July 22 (Olympic Games)

Mexico started their Summer Olympic Games Tokio 2020 campaign with a convincing 4-1 victory over France. Alexis Vega, Sebastián Córdova, Uriel Antuna and Eduardo Aguirre scored for El Tri, while Tigres star Andre-Pierre Gignac pulled one back for the French side at the Tokio Stadium. Mexico were drawn in Group A with France, Japan and South Africa.

 

Mexico 1 Japan 2 - July 25 (Olympic Games)

The Tricolor continued their Summer Olympics journey against Japan, the host nation. However, Mexico couldn't against them and lost 2-1. The Group A game was played on July 25 at the Saitama Stadium.

Mexico 3 South Africa 0 - July 28 (Olympic Games)

The Mexico Under-23 national soccer team advances to the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 men's soccer tournament quarterfinals on July 28 at the Sapporo Dome after beating South Africa 3-0. Alexis Vega, Luis Romo and Henry Martin scored for Jaime Lozano's side.

Mexico 2 Canada 1 - July 29, 2021 (Gold Cup Semifinals)

Hector Herrera was Mexico's hero at the NRG Stadium as he scored a last-minute goal to give his national team a 2-1 victory over Canada to advance to the 2021 Concacaf Gold Cup Final

Mexico 6 South Korea 3 - July 31, 2021 (Olympics Quarterfinals)

After beating South Africa 3-0 in their last group stage game, Mexico clinched a 6-3 victory over South Korea on Saturday, July 31st, to reach the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 soccer men's tournament semifinals.

Mexico 0 United States 1 - August 1, 2021 (Gold Cup Final)

Mexico missed their chance of claiming a trophy in 2021 after losing to the USMNT 1-0 in 2021 Concacaf Gold Cup Final. The 2021 title game was played on Sunday, August 1st, at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Mexico vs Jamaica - September 2, 2021 (World Cup Qualifiers)

Mexico will begin their Concacaf World Cup 2022 Qualifiers tournament against Jamaica on September 2. The other national teams competing for a place in Qatar 2022 are: the United States, Canada, Honduras, Costa Rica, Panama and El Salvador.

Mexico vs Costa Rica - September 5, 2021 (World Cup Qualifiers)

The Concacaf World Cup 2022 qualfiers continue with the Mexican soccer national team visiting Costa Rica on September 5.

Mexico vs Panama - September 8, 2021 (World Cup Qualifiers)

The tour continue for Mexico in the Concacaf World Cup 2022 Qualifiers as they visit Panama to play the third round of the competition on September 8.

Mexico vs Canada - October 7, 2021 (World Cup Qualifiers)

The match between Mexico and Canada will be played on October 7. It will be the fourth round of the Concacaf World Cup 2022 Qualifying tournament.

Mexico vs Honduras - October 10, 2021 (World Cup Qualifiers)

El Tricolor will play at home again against Honduras on October 10 in a match for the fifth round of the Concacaf World Cup 2022 Qualifying tournament.

Mexico vs El Salvador - October 13, 2021 (World Cup Qualifiers)

The match against El Salvador will be Mexico's last game for the Concacaf World Cup 2022 Qualifiers of the year. Gerardo Martino's side will play again for the tournament in January, 2022, against Jamaica.
