Paul Pogba and Jose Mourinho had a falling out at Manchester United while the Portuguese tactician was there back in 2016-2018. During the course of Mourinho’s stay at the club Pogba saw his time dwindle more and more due to injuries and Mourinho’s roster decisions.
In an interview with Sky Sports the French midfielder opened up about the Special One’s lack of communication with players at the club during that time and how Ole Gunnar Solskjær has been a breath of fresh air in that regard.
Pogba stated during the interview that Mourinho would just stop talking to players who he thought were out of form and did not playing regularly. Pogba also indicated that he did not know why things went sour with Jose Mourinho so suddenly.

In the Sky Sports interview Paul Pogba mentioned that at one point the relationship between player and coach was solid. “Once I had a great relationship with Mourinho, everybody saw that, and the next day you don’t know what happened. That’s the strange thing I had with Mourinho and I cannot explain to you because even I don’t know.”
Mourinho has a history of pushing players and demanding more from them and during the three years Mourinho was in charge of United Pogba and Mourinho would clash and this left the World Cup winner either on the bench or out of the squad all together.
After Mourinho was fired in December 2018, Pogba’s form elevated, and he immediately made an impact once reinserted into the starting eleven. Since the arrival of Ole Gunnar Solskjær, Pogba has noticed the differences: “He wouldn’t go against the players. Maybe Ole wouldn’t pick them, but it’s not like he puts them on the side like they don’t exist anymore. That’s the difference between Mourinho and Ole.”
Since Mourinho left Manchester United Paul Pogba has battled some injuries but continues to be a main piece for Manchester United, this season he has played in 21 games and has scored 3 goals.
As for Mourinho he is coaching Tottenham Hotspur and like usual is at the center of controversy as Spurs have had a very disappointing season and is the subject of many debates if the Special One will be sacked at season’s end.
