After failing in the semifinals of the Copa America 2021, Colombia and Peru clash today at Estádio Mané Garrincha in the Third-place match for a consolation prize. Peru fought hard but still Brazil got through thanks to the lone goal from Lucas Paquetá. On the other side, Colombia also had a tight battle, quite literally, with Argentina. After the 1-1 in the 90 minutes, La Albiceleste won on penalties thanks to an incredible Emiliano Martínez. 

While Colombia has won the third place on four occasions, Peru has won it eight times. The last time Colombia won the third place was in 2016, when they beat the United States 1-0 with a goal from Bacca. Peru was third in 2015, after beating Paraguay 2-0.
