Pep Guardiola has converted Manchester City in one of the best teams in the world right now. However, it seems like the Premier League giants are still looking to reinforce their squad with one of Real Madrid’s midfielders.
According to El Nacional, the Manchester City manager will “do everything possible” to get the services of Toni Kroos. The report suggests that Kroos has to give his answer to the request on January 1.
The move could be in the cards for Kroos, after a not so great start of the season for him with Real Madrid. Until Sunday’s Clasico, the 31-year-old onlyhad played one game in La Liga and with the 2022 World Cup around the corner, he could use more minutes.
Would Toni Kroos be interested in a move to Manchester City?
In soccer, anything can happen, as we saw during the summer transfer window. Also, it’s known that Kroos played with Guardiola during his time at Bayern Munich, and the pair won the Bundesliga league and the cup back in 2014.
In February, Kroos addressed his relationship with Guardiola ahead of the match between Real Madrid and Manchester City for the Champions League. The German said that he “loved” playing for him and “if you ask the players at Bayern today, they will still tell you he’s the best coach they’ve ever had in a sporting sense.”
However, Kroos also said that he wanted to finish his career at Real Madrid and it would be “very unlikely” that he will work with Guardiola again. He also remarked that for him it’s “not a good idea to sign a deal just because of the manager”. Maybe he has changed his mind.
