Cristiano Ronaldo scored a late penalty for Al Nassr to help his team win 2-0 over Al Khaleej on Matchday 33 of the Saudi Pro League. The goal came after he had already missed several chances in the game, including one from the penalty spot.
In the first penalty, his shot went just wide of the left post. He appeared frustrated, but keep insisting to find his goal. He had another close chance with a shot that hit the post.
When it came time to take the second one, awarded in the 97th minute after Al Khaleejās goalkeeper tackled the Portuguese, Ronaldo aimed for the same side, but this time, the ball went directly into the net.
While the Portuguese legend couldnāt open the scoring in the 65th minute, Colombian John Duran found the back of the net just ten minutes later to give the Al Nassr the lead. Duran scored with a header after receiving a precise cross from Sadio Mane.
Al Nassrās disappointing season
The three points helped boost the morale of a team that fell short of expectations this season, having been eliminated in the AFC Champions League Elite semifinals by Kawasaki and missing out on the domestic title, which went to Al Ittihad.
However, despite the lack of collective success, Ronaldo, who turned 40 this year, had a strong individual campaign, scoring 34 goals and providing four assists. As he has expressed his desire to keep competing at the highest level, Al Nassrās results have fueled speculation about his future.
