Inter Miami are gearing up for their opening match against Egyptian giants Al Ahly on Saturday, June 14. With Lionel Messi at the helm, the Herons are poised to make their mark on the global stage in what promises to be a historic tournament.
Javier Mascherano now has his full squad ready as Lionel Messi rejoined Inter Miami following international duty with Argentina in the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers. After the dramatic draw against Colombia, the team captain flew directly to the United States to prepare for Inter Miami’s highly anticipated debut in the FIFA Club World Cup.
Ahead of the competition’s new format debut, Mascherano shared his thoughts on the honor of participating. “It’s a privilege that in the present day I can coach a team that’s going to take part in a competition as important as the FIFA Club World Cup,” told Mascherano to Inter Miami official site, who knows the prestige of this tournament well, having won it twice with FC Barcelona.
“Our objective is to compete to the best of our ability, just as we do in all competitions, knowing that it’s a top-level event and that we’ll be facing top-class teams,” he added.
