John Isner and Reilly Opelka lead Team USA lineup for 2021 Davis Cup Finals

The USTA have announced the Team United States for 2021 Davis Cup Finals, which will be played on November 25. John Isner, Reilly Opelka and Taylor Fritz will be part of the lineup. Here, check out all the names.

The Davis Cup Finals 2021 are only a month away and the United States have their lineup for the tennis event, which starts on November 25. The United States are the most successful team in the tournament, with 32 titles so far.

In 2019, with former American number 1 Mardy Fish as the captain, team USA lost in the group stage of the Davis Cup Finals in Madrid. They beat Italy 2-1, but failed against Canada, who ended up being finalists.Because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the ITF stated that the 2020 finals will be held from November 22 to November 28, 2021.

The last time Team USA won the competition was in 2007 with Patick McEnroe as the captain. So, it’s been awhile since the U.S. have conquered the oldest tennis competition in the world. Here, check out who will be part of the team to try to bring the trophy home.

United States Davis Cup team: Isner, Opelkaand Fritz lead the lineup

The USTA announced that team USA will have veteran John Isner (No. 26 in the ATP rankings), No. 30 Taylor Fritz, No. 27 Reilly Opelka and experts doubles Jack Sock and Rajeev Ram. Mardy Fish will come back as the captain.

The United States is part of Group E with Italy and Colombia. All the matches will take place in Turin, Italy. Then, if they win the group, they will meet with the Group D winner, who could be Croatia, Australia, and Hungary.

Spain are the defending champions. Madrid will be the hosts of two quarterfinals, as well as the semifinals and the final. Spain are favorites alongside Serbia, who will count with World No. 1 Novak Djokovic, and Canada, who were finalists in the last edition.
