The Tokyo 2020 Men's Basketball Group Stage ended on August 1, 2021, with no major upsets having occurred yet. However, Iran, Nigeria, and the tournament's hosts, Japan, were eliminated. As a result, all three teams lost out on a place in the last eight. The United States are in second place in Group A with five points and a win rate of 66.7 percent. France leads the group with six points and a 100-percent win percentage.

The Czech Republic and Iran are now occupying the bottom two places. Because Iran has failed to win at least one game, they have been eliminated from the competition. In Group B, Australia and Italy are in first and second places, respectively. As a result, Australia has a 100 percent victory percentage after three games. Second-placed Italy, however, lost once and won twice. Germany is in the third position with four points, while Nigeria is in the last place with three points after suffering three defeats thus far.

Slovenia and Spain are both undefeated in Group C, and both have a victory percentage of 100 percent going into the third round on Sunday. Aside from that, Slovenia has scored and surrendered more goals than Spain, so for now, they're in the lead. Argentina and Japan have a combined total of two points from their two games, as both teams were defeated by their respective opponents. After the break, on August 3, the teams will all embark on their final journey towards the 2020 Summer Olympics gold.

Tokyo 2020 Men's Basketball Knockout Stage Bracket

After the preliminary round, the pairings will be determined by a random draw. The draw will take place after the final match of the group round on August 1. Teams qualified for the tournament's final phase will be split into two groups. Each of the top three teams from the group phase, as well as the best second-placed team, are in Pot D. Second-placed teams, as well as the two best third-placed teams, make up Pot E.

There will be one team from Pot D and one team from Pot E in each game pairing. In the Quarter-Finals, teams from the same group cannot be matched against one other. There is no way to draw the second-placed team from Pot D to play the third-placed team from Pot E.
