<p>It seems like<strong> Saquon Barkley’s</strong> amazing rookie season was ages ago. He’s coming off averaging just 3.7 YPC and 45.6 yards per game, totaling 856 yards from scrimmage in 13 games after playing just two games the prior season.</p>
<p>The <strong>New York Giants</strong> even fielded calls for the Penn State product, who might not finish the season with the team. That’s why he needs to prove that he can stay healthy and be the tackle-breaking machine he was when he entered the league four years ago.</p>
<h3>2. Ezekiel Elliott</h3>

<p><strong>Ezekiel Elliott </strong>threatened to sit out the whole season and got the <strong>Dallas Cowboys</strong> to make him the highest-paid RB in the league at the time. He’s been missing in action and hurt more often than not ever since they made that commitment.</p>
<p>Elliott claims he’s back to full strength once and for all, so expect his numbers from last season<strong> (1,002 yards and ten scores)</strong> to go up, or this might as well be his final year with the Cowboys.</p>

<p>When healthy, <strong>Christian McCaffrey</strong> has been simply spectacular. The problem is that he’s rarely healthy. But still, he’s a lock to be taken in the first round in most drafts this season, regardless of the fact that he’s played a combined ten games in the last two years.</p>
<p>McCaffrey is the best pass-catching back in the league. He can do it all and is one of the most versatile guys out there. But he’ll have to prove that he can stay on the field and will be asked to do plenty of heavy lifting with <strong>Baker Mayfield</strong> as his QB.</p>

<p>Jones had a completely different attitude when talking about<strong> Ezekiel Elliott’s </strong>future with the organization. He claimed that his contract is fully guaranteed and they have no intention of moving on from him:</p>

Elliott had $8.6 million of his salary converted to a signing bonus reducing his cap number from $13.7 million to $6.82 million. Dallas now has approximately <strong>$12 million in cap space </strong>for 2021 which is more than enough to cover the regular season.</em></p>
<p><em>Elliott’s 2022 cap number will now increase <strong>by $1.72 million to $18.22 million next yea</strong>r. His dead money increased by $6.88 million but because his salary for 2022 is already guaranteed that was of no concern for Dallas in making this decision. Elliott will now cost $11.86 million to release in 2023 which is the year the salary cap is expected to return to more normal levels.”</em></p>

<p>For most players, that’s not their fault. Football can wear you out and not many players have long careers in the NFL. For others, it seems like they just don’t care enough <strong>or don’t want it badly enough anymore.</strong></p>
<p>Whatever the reason is, there were plenty of disappointing players in the 2020 NFL season, but no one topped <strong>Melvin Gordon, Cam Newton, Ben Roethlisberger, Lamar Jackson, and Ezekiel Elliott; </strong>and we’ll let you know just why.</p>
<h2>The Most Disappointing NFL Players Of 2020</h2>
<h2>5. Melvin Gordon</h2>

<p><strong>Melvin Gordon</strong> was a star with the San Diego / Los Angeles Chargers but he couldn’t replicate that success with the Denver Broncos. Perhaps the Chargers knew what was coming and that’s why they refused to cave into his salary demands in 2019 when he threatened to hold out for the season.</p>
<p>While the Broncos’ offense was stagnant, to say the least, Gordon did little to help their cause. He rushed 215 times for 986 yards and just 9 touchdowns, adding <strong>a career-high four fumbles lost.</strong> He ended up splitting carries and doesn’t look like a bell-cow back anymore.</p>
<h2>4. Cam Newton</h2>

<p><strong>Cam Newton</strong> was the guy to watch last season. Some people claimed he was washed and wasn’t going to be healthy enough to go back to his MVP level, others – myself included – believed that he was poised for a revenge season and would lead the New England Patriots to the playoffs.</p>
<p>Needless to say, we were wrong. <a href="https://us.bolavip.com/cam-newton-t112034" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Newton</a> was inaccurate, hesitant, and flat-out bad. He did most of his damage on the ground and only threw for2,657 yards with 8 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. <strong>He was benched down the stretch multiple times</strong> and it seems like his days as a starter are over.</p>
<h2>3. Ben Roethlisberger</h2>

<p>It’s always sad to see when the clock is ticking on a Hall of Famer, and, sadly; <strong>Ben Roethlisberger</strong> couldn’t keep up with Father Time anymore. He had the worst season of his career and many wonder whether he’s still got it or not.</p>
<p><em>Big Ben</em> has never been mobile but at least he was a sniper. Last year, however, most of his throws were off. He still managed to throw for<strong>3,803 yards with 33 touchdowns and 10 interceptions </strong>but failed to move the chains when his team needed him. It’s hard to blame him at this point in his career, tho.</p>
<h2>2. Lamar Jackson</h2>

<p>Don’t get me wrong,<strong> Lamar Jackson </strong>had a good season but that doesn’t mean it wasn’t disappointing. He was coming off an MVP year with many people questioning his drive and determination to win, and he didn’t do much to change that narrative this season.</p>
<p>The thing with <a href="https://us.bolavip.com/lamar-jackson-t149503" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Jackson</a> is that he just didn’t improve the slightest. He continued to be the same quarterback he was last year and once again, that backfired. He’s got to be able to throw the ball and not be one-dimensional, regardless of how great he is running the football. Last year, he threw for just<strong>2,757 yards with 26 touchdowns and 9 picks, adding1,005 yards and 7 scores on the ground.</strong></p>

<p>And among all players, no one was more disappointing than <strong>Ezekiel Elliott.</strong> Even when Dak Prescott was healthy, his production just wasn’t the same and his numbers continue to regress every single season. Also, his fumbling woes were on full display for most of the year.</p>
<p>Elliott rushed for a career-worst979 yards (4 yards per carry) with just 6 touchdowns. Also, he <strong>fumbled 6 times with 5 fumbles lost </strong>and it seems like he had lost his first step. He’s too talented and too young to look washed, so hopefully, he’ll have a bounceback season and silence his critics in 2021.</p>

<p><strong>The Packers</strong> have lacked a reliable running back since Eddy Lacy’s downfall but it seems like they’ve finally found their guy. <strong>Aaron Jones </strong>started all 16 games last season and was tied with Derrick Henry for the most rushing touchdowns in the season (16).</p>
<p>Jones proved to be a huge red-zone threat and a solid 3 down kind of running back. Also, with the Packers cautiously leaning towards balancing their offense and trying to protect their 36-year-old quarterback, <strong>we expect them to feed Jones as often as possible next year.</strong></p>
<h2>9. Nick Chubb</h2>

<p><strong>Nick Chubb</strong> has been forced to share the backfield with Duke Johnson and Carlos Hyde earlier on his career until the Cleveland Browns finally let him loose. He’s been nothing short of spectacular when given the chance to prove his worth.</p>
<p>Chubb <strong>rushed for 1,494 yards and 8 scores</strong> last season while averaging just over 90 yards per game and 5.0 yards per carry. He’s also got great hands and is an effective threat in the passing game as well. Then again, he plays for the Browns, so anything can happen.</p>
<h2>8. Todd Gurley</h2>

<p>We’re all rooting for <strong>Todd Gurley</strong> now. It’s crazy to see how quickly things can change in the NFL. Gurley was the best running back in the game three years ago and now the Rams pretty much paid him a lot of money just to get rid of him.</p>
<p>Gurley’s going to play with a chip on his shoulder all season and that’s a scary thought. If he can stay healthy <strong>(which is a big IF)</strong>, he’ll finally provide the balance the Atlanta Falcons’ offense has lacked since Devonta Freeman’s breakout year.</p>

<p><strong>Alvin Kamara</strong> had a bit of a down year last season but he wasn’t fully healthy and he didn’t have Drew Brees under center for a third of the season, so we can definitely expect him to bounce back in 2020.</p>
<p>Kamara is one of the strongest and fastest players you’ll find in the gridiron and his <strong>tackle-breaking ability is still elite.</strong> Having Brees back at full strength will open up a lot of lanes for him to prove his worth again.</p>
<h2>6. Joe Mixon</h2>

<p><strong>Joe Mixon</strong> is one of the most versatile running backs in the league. He can be a huge threat on screen passes and wreak havoc in opposing secondaries, or just fight his way between the tackles as a 3-down kind of back.</p>
<p>The Bengals have been abysmal since Mixon entered the league in 2017 but they’ll finally have AJ Green back plus first overall pick Joe Burrow, which can only improve their putrid offense. Mixon has been their lone bright spot thus far with<strong> almost 3,000 yards from scrimmage over the past 2 seasons.</strong></p>
<h2>5. Dalvin Cook</h2>

<p>There were a lot of concerns about<strong> Dalvin Cook’s</strong> durability but now that we’ve finally seen him play a full season, we get why the Minnesota Vikings were so high and patient with him. He’s the real deal and their best back since Adrian Peterson.</p>
<p>Cook became a huge insurance policy for <strong>Kirk Cousins</strong> and piled up 1,135 rushing yards with 13 rushing touchdowns to go along with 53 receptions and519 yards. He has a legit shot at being a top-3 back if he stays healthy this season.</p>
<h2>4. Derrick Henry</h2>

<p>Just when some people were ready to give up on him, <strong>Derrick Henry</strong> finally broke out. Now, he’ll have to carry the load for the Tennessee Titans again after leading the NFL in carries (303), rushing yards (1,540) and rushing touchdowns (16).</p>
<p>Henry’s big and strong frame allows him to break loose despite three linebackers trying to take him down. Getting stiff-armed by him <strong>must feel like hitting a brick wall.</strong> He’s also turned into a solid threat in the passing game with 206 yards and a couple of scores last year.</p>
<h2><strong>3. Ezekiel Elliott</strong></h2>

<p><strong>Ezekiel Elliott </strong>got paid big time last year and it didn’t take him long to prove why after a slow start to the season. He posted 1,777 total yards last year and has already led the league in rushing twice while not missing a single game over four seasons.</p>
<p>Elliott has a legit shot at becoming the greatest running back in a franchise that also had <strong>Tony Dorsett and Emmit Smith,</strong> that’s just how good he is. There’s just no true way of slowing him down and the Cowboys will only go as far as he takes them, even despite Dak Prescott and Amari Cooper’s presence.</p>

<p><strong>Saquon Barkley</strong> is just ridiculous. He’s got an incredible ability to create something out of nothing, break tackles, and take off at an insane speed. His athletic traits make him simply unstoppable, even on a team like the Giants.</p>
<p>Barkley has already piled up<strong>3,469 yards from scrimmage and 23 touchdowns </strong>since entering the league two seasons ago and he’s just getting started. The Giants will take anything Daniel Jones can give them but it’s pretty clear that their offense will flow through Saquon’s rock-hard quads.</p>

<p><strong>Christian McCaffrey</strong> entered the NFL while holding theNCAArecord for most all-purpose yards in a season (3,864) and instantly proved that his ability as a dual-threat back could translate <a href="https://www.nfl.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">to the NFL.</a> He’s already amassed 5,443 yards (2,920 rushing, 2,524 receiving) in just three seasons in the league.</p>
<p>McCaffrey looks like the kind of player you create in Madden. There aren’t any flaws in his game. <strong>He’s the highest-paid running back in NFL history </strong>for a reason after piling over 1,000 rushing yards and 1,000 receiving yards in 2019 and he’ll look to build on those performances in 2020.</p>
