TheDallas Cowboys entered the s reason as one of the biggest dark horses to go the distance and win the Super Bowl. Dak Prescott was going to play for a new contract, and Mike McCarthy was going to be a breathof fresh air after a decade with Jason Garrett.

Fast forward to Week 17 and even though the Cowboys have been a train wreck from start to finish, they still have a strong chance to win the NFC East and clinch a playoff berth against all odds.

This will be easier said than done, though, as they’ll need to get past the New York Giants on the road and hope that the Philadelphia Eagles beat the Washington Football Team on Sunday Night Football.

Ezekiel Elliott On Winning The Division: ‘You Go Into The Playoffs With A 0-0 Record’

But, if all things go their way and they actually win the NFC East, Ezekiel Elliott knows that they have what it takes to upset the rest of the NFL and shock the world, as the playoffs are a whole different story to the regular season:

“If we win the division at 7-9, I mean, it’s the same as winning it at 14-2. You go into the playoffs with a 0-0 record, so I mean, winning the division, it doesn’t matter what the record is,” Elliott told the media, as quoted by ESPN.

Elliott had already addressed the media to discuss the Cowboys’ chances of making the playoffs, claiming that it’s the kind of thing that could only happen on such an eventful year like 2020:

“I mean, it’s a little weird—but this is a weird-*ss year. Like, if there was a year, this would be the year. So we’re gonna get back to work and get ready to do everything we can to go win next week, so we can have a chance at winning this division,” Elliott said earlier in the week.

At the end of the day, it’s unlikely that the Cowboys can put together a deep run in the playoffs given their shaky defense and Andy Dalton’s woes in the postseason, but hey, we’ve seen stranger things happen.
