But over the past couple of years, some around the league are wondering whether Tatum has what it takes to lead a historied franchise to success. Not because of his talents or lack thereof, but because of his mindset.

That’s why Tatum addressed the situation and his relationship with Brown during an interview with Knuckleheads.

“It’s been great. Two guys that got drafted back to back, to the same team, same draft number. Every day, every game I know where I’m tryna get to, he know where he want to get to, and we trying to figure it out together.
But in a way, we pushing each other. It has been times where he has done something in game and I’m thinking like “Man, I’m tryna do that”. There has been things I done did, where he’s even told me. “Like, yo.”
Everything we do we compete, in a good way. I’m pushing him, we playing 1-on-1 after practice. I think the next step for us is like feeding off each other more in a game. JB, from where he started his first year, and what they tried to label him, like “he couldn’t shoot” or whatever. He shot 38-40% from the 3 and made his first All-Star game. I couldn’t be happier for him… We two are the hungriest players in the league, we’re still trying to get there.”
The Celtics have one of the most promising young duos in the league, so this is wonderful to hear. At the end of the day, the team will only go as far as they can take them, even if some of their teammates don’t feel that way.

They’ve won just two out of seven games and have yet to win their first game at home. Also, they have a -5.8 point differential thus far.
Ime Udoka just took over as their coach and it’ll take some time before everybody’s on the same page. However, the Celtics’ biggest issue seems to be their mindset, as they can’t seem to compete for a full 48 minutes.
Those woes were again at a full display last night. They were up 19 points late in the third quarter and had a 96.4% chance of beating the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/chicago-bulls-t101422" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Chicago Bulls</a>. Somehow, someway, they lost by 14 points.

Celtics veteran Marcus Smart was clearly displeased after such an epic meltdown. But instead of keeping things in the locker room, he went out in public to call out Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum for not passing the ball:
“Every team knows we’re trying to go to Jayson and Jaylen,” Smart told the media. “Every team is programmed and studied to stop Jayson and Jaylen. I think everybody’s scouting report is to make those guys pass the ball. They don’t want to pass the ball. That’s something that they’re going to learn. They’re still learning.”
“We’re proud of the progress they’re making, but they’re going to have to make another step and find ways to not only create for themselves but create for others on this team to open up the court for them later down in the game where they’re always going to have to take those tough shots or take tough matchups when they do get the 1-on-1 or they bring the trap. It’s something we’ve been asking them to do and they’re learning. We just gotta continue to help those guys do that… There’s only so much I can do when the ball isn’t in my hands and I’m standing in the corner,” he concluded.

This isn’t the first time that Smart has shared these kinds of comments and he should know better than to call out his teammates in public. The years go by but the Celtics’chemistry issues just don’t seem to go away.

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you have to know that COVID-19 has been quite the controversial issue around the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/nba-t19117" target="_blank" rel="noopener">NBA</a>. Unfortunately, vaccination doesn’t prevent people from getting the virus, which was the case with Jaylen Brown, who tested positive earlier in the month and had to be held out and undergo quarantine.
And, even though he’s been fully cleared to play and has been quite efficient for the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/boston-celtics-t101837" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Boston Celtics</a> during the young season, it seems like the young star continues to struggle with the after-effects.

“Like, I feel great. And then it feels like instead of playing one game, it kind of feels like I played three. I’m used to my body responding and recovering a lot faster. I know I just turned 25, but this can’t be what it looks like on the other side,” Brown told ESPN.
“As I continue to fight through it and continue to play more games and get the right stuff into my system, it will get better,” the young star added. “Right now it has been inconsistent. I think that’s obvious. But my body hasn’t felt the same.”
That seems to be on the same page with his teammate Jayson Tatum, who said that he was running out of air during games last season after testing positive for the virus. Eventually, the effects passed and he went back to his old self.

Hopefully, that will also be the case with Brown. We’ve lost way too many people because of this virus and all we want is to go back to normalcy. At least, that’s what the NBA is aiming for right now.
