Two NFL officials will have to do some explaining as they were apparently caught on camera asking <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/nfl/mike-evans-makes-bold-admission-over-trolling-tom-brady-20220705-0010.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Mike Evans</a> of the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/nfl/nfl-news-buccaneers-tom-brady-reacts-to-ben-roethlisbergers-comments-20221020-0048.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Tampa Bay Buccaneers</a> for an autograph following the Carolina Panthers 21-3 victory over the struggling <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/nfl/nfl-news-buccaneers-qb-tom-brady-apologizes-for-controversial-comment-20221020-0027.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Bucs</a>.
The NFL CBA is very clear that no <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/nfl/buccaneers-tom-brady-puts-an-end-on-his-retirement-rumors-with-a-surprising-answer-20221020-0037.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">NFL</a> referees “shall not… ask players, coaches or any other team personnel for autographs or memorabilia.” The incident in question was caught on film by reporter Sheena Quick and the officials in question have been identified as side judge Jeff Lamberth and line judge Tripp Sutter.
The video shows Lamberth was the one that called Evans for the signature, Sutter seemed to point to Evans where to sign, the player signed the paper or card and went about his way.

The NFL will review the matter as early as Monday, the two officials have not issued a statement or made a comment. Jeff Lamberth has been an official for 20 seasons, while Tripp Sutter is a four-year veteran ref.

“He texted me and he sent me an article where his ball sold for over 500 grand, the last touchdown that I threw in the stands against the Rams,” Evans told Ari Alexander of KPRC. “He said, ‘That’s a lot of tuition money.’ I just laughed, and I said, ‘To my defense I didn’t know you were going to retire.’ He sent back a laughing emoji, saying, ‘There’s more touchdowns in our future.’ I just figured he was trolling me. A few hours later, it’s announced that he’s coming back. I didn’t think he was really coming back. I thought he was just playing around.”

Brady now has a year of experience on Bruce Arians’ system under his belt, which is a scary thought. Evans then talked about how good he feels after a couple of injury-riddled seasons, and the focus he’s done on adding yards after the catch this season:
“I always try to work on YAC,” Evans added.“I always try to work on that and be in the best shape possible because if I’m in good shape and I’m healthy, I feel like I’m the best receiver on the planet. I just try to work on that mainly.”
